Home Décor Tips For The Bathroom

One of the most crucial rooms in your house is the bathroom. It needs to be light and fresh, clean and airy, and feel comfortable. If there's one room that says a lot about the people who live there, it's the bathroom.

Still, this is the room that usually causes the most difficulties. Limescale buildup, discoloured tiles, and clogged drains can all give homeowners a lot of trouble. Not to mention when the pipes break or when mould grows in the grouting. There are a few things you can do to make sure your bathroom works well for you without spending a lot of money. All you need are a few regular cleaning habits, a few tricks, and the number of a good plumber. Here are some ways to decorate your bathroom so that it always looks great.

The Tiles

Tiles are the most common choice for bathrooms since they are easy to clean, don't get damaged by water, and are made so that they are safe and non-slip. But over time, the grout between the tiles can turn a different colour. The best way to solve this problem is probably to use bleach, a scrub brush, and a little bit of elbow grease. You could also try other natural products. The best thing to do is clean your tiles often, so they don't have a chance to look so bad.

Cracked tiles are another annoying problem in the bathroom. It's best to keep a few extra tiles on hand just in case, but sometimes you won't have any on hand. You can fill in chips and cracks in tile pretty well with tile filler like Ardex A45, and it's not too difficult a task, though. Don't be tempted to just leave a broken tile to fix itself. Since tiles are often used because they don't let water in, a crack could cause a leak, and any further damage will be harder and more expensive to fix.

The Drains

Since the bathroom is all about water, most bathroom disasters are probably caused by the drains. Damaged drains are a big problem, whether they leak all at once or start to drip slowly over time. Even if you aren't worried about damage to the building (which you really should be), the smell of damp will get you thinking about making repairs. Make sure to call a trustworthy and reliable plumber as soon as you notice a problem, and they will be able to fix it for you.

If a drain works well, everything is fine, but over time, many drains can get clogged. This is especially likely to happen in the sink and shower because so much soap and hair goes down the drain. If you regularly pour baking soda down the drain and then run hot water through it, you can keep it from getting clogged.

The Smells

We all understand what the bathroom is for, and some smells can stick around for a long time. Any bathroom or toilet needs to have good airflow, so make sure you can open the window. This will let out unpleasant odours and get rid of any water droplets from the shower so that the room doesn't get damp. If your bathroom doesn't have a window, you should at least have a ventilation fan to help get rid of steam.

Simple ways to clean, like putting baking soda in the drain, will help your bathroom smell fresh. You can also put a bowl of baking soda on top of the toilet to get rid of other smells. Or, you could do the same thing with lemons. Also, plants will help clean the air.
