I am not an expert in wines nor food, so don't take my tips as a fact here. However, I am a big food lover and love an occasional drink or two over a delicious meal, and not only when I am out in a restaurant but started to build this "habit" also at home. Whenever I have guests, watching a film during dinner with my partner, or just cooked something amazing that it needs a glass of wine.
I have recently partnered with Independent Wine, who are UK based company specialized in hand-picked selection of UK-exclusive, award-winning wines of the outstanding quality of wines from Italy, France, Argentina or Spain. This Independent Wine Shop have wide selection of wines and are available for next day deliveries!
I have been given their Francone Sparkling Valsellera Rosè Brut NV, a very delicate sparkling wine made of the Nebbiolo grape which is difficult to grow and normally is used for the fine wines which should be aged for at least 5 years before the release. I have decided to test out this sparkling rose wine this weekend, because it is summer so it is rose time! Rose and sunshine goes hand in hand, and it is a perfect wine to have for your lunch dish, early evenings or dinner. Rosé is actually pretty versatile; it goes well with Mediterranean dishes, light starters, anything grilled, and a wide variety of desserts. As a very general rule, lighter styles of rosé will tend to pair better with more delicate food, such fresh salads or charcuterie. Below are some dishes and its recipes for what goes well with your rose wine:
4. Cheese platter
5. Salmon
I have opened up a bottle of rose while having a light Italian lunch - home-made bruschetta, mozzarella and fresh bread.
The next bottle in my cupboard from Independent Wine is Volo Di Farfalle 2019 | Moscato d’Asti DOCG | Muscat Sparkling Wine - sweet and very light (only 5% ABV) sparkling wine of Moscato Italy, which goes perfectly with desserts or as an aperitif for a garden party. White wines are elegant, simple and light. They should be served chilled, some to colder degrees than others. As a rule of thumb, the lighter the food, the lighter the wine. Below are again my tips for some food to go with the white wine of your choice:
1. Seafood - lobster, oysters, fish etc.
And do you have any favourite wine and food pairing combination?
