Never before has the 70s been everywhere on catwalks.
It is a 70s revival and it is happening in a shop near you.
Designs by the likes of Hedi Slimane for Celine brought the seventies right into trend. Cullotes, thigh high boots, tweed jackets and saddle bags. Over at Max Mara it was monochrome, thigh high boots and knitwear were the order of the day. Chloe had billowy and bohemian garments reminiscent with the decade that fashion forgot. Chanel showed beautiful wide leg coord suits in houndstooth and Gabriela Hearst had beautiful suiting. Whereas Kate Spade New York had the essence of the decade with turbans, high waisted wide leg trousers and animal print.
So many fashion houses are currently hailing thebleather 'shacket' ,that is the leather shirt meets jacket, a staple of the seventies. Another seventies thing is the color camel which everyone showed and has trickled down to the high street by labels like Uniqlo (great turtle necks), Next, John Lewis, V by Very and more.
The seventies wouldn't be complete without the right accessories. Think thigh high boots, heeled loafers and saddle bags.Erdem and Gucci have great pairs of heeled loafers and on the high street look to Kurt Geiger who has a brilliant white pair. Sandro, Etro and See by Chloe have wonderful saddle bags.
It is all about the seventies right now for autumn 2019 and the real question is are you going to get into it.
