These days everyone seems to be completely obsessed with the much-anticipated arrival of the festival season. There are outrageous hairstyles to try, tons of glitter to purchase, and if all the most beloved and renowned makeup companies are to be believed, this year’s festival season is going to be all about that iridescent glow, bold shimmery colors, lots of shine and mermaid and unicorn vibes. You’re probably snagging Tarte’s Mermaid collection as we speak, or browsing through Too Faced’s website for that perfect unicorn highlighter and glitter packs, so we’re here to give you a bit of guidance in the style department. Bold colors and sea vibes seem to be dominating this festival season, so we’ll do our best to make your makeup and hair match your festival attire. Of course, as the title says – festival season and beyond, we plan on giving you options that you’ll be able to wear to numerous other occasions. Let’s face it, clothes are pricey, and when you snag great pieces you’ll want to rock them more than once.
Let’s start with mermaid vibes
As you know, when it comes to festivals, there’s no such thing as too much – the only way to go wrong is to be too casual, and we’re not about to take you down that road. So, in the spirit of beach and mermaid vibes, why not rock amazing one-piece designer swimwear as your top, and then just seal the deal with cut-off denim shorts? For a splash of color, turn to one of the infinite choices of metallic sneakers that are on offer now (in the spirit of comfort and athleisure) and finalize the look with a crochet kimono with fringes – because festival season and fringes are simply a match made in heaven. the best part – you can rock the suit at the beach and be a total goddess and the rest of the items are perfect for casual summer days. It’s a total win-win.
A different bohemian queen
If you simply can’t help but unleash the bohemian queen within, this is your moment to shine, and actually be mainstream fashionable, not just festival stylish. The sheer dress trend has taken over the runways, and showing off your amazing choice of underwear is more than encouraged. So, don’t think twice before you snag a floor-length sheer dress – whether it’s lace, tulle or any other sheer fabric, you’ll look positively radiant. Of course, don’t forget to put tons of bangles, your go-to fedora, and if boho ankle boots are too much for this heat, the gladiator sandals are always here to the rescue. The casual type
Of course, there are those who simply want to be comfortable, but practicality doesn’t have to be devoid of stylishness. Take Kate Bosworth for instance – a simple body-hugging murky floral mini dress with a simple parka on top and Hunter boots – because who wants to get all muddy? Of course, killer eyewear is always a style enhancer, and just for a touch of the festival vibes – place at least a belt with a cool buckle over the dress for good measure. You’ll exude the ‘don’t care’ ultra cool vibes, and again, you can repurpose all the pieces and rock them on a daily basis, which is always a plus.Show your love of trends
The jeans trend report is here and it had a lot to say. First of all – the ultimate Woodstock-reminiscent and generally cool flare jeans are back in style, but that’s not all. You can choose to go with simple ones, or take things up a notch with patchwork jeans and a plethora of embellishments which are all welcome this season. Flower power will extend from dresses to jeans, so either get a pair, or DIY your way to a perfect pair. Now, you can show some patriotism with a simple tee with your country’s flag, show your favorite band love with their tee, or take a more ‘upscale route’ and snag a Calvin Klein-inspired shirt and channel your inner cowgirl.Totally retro
In case you haven’t heard, the animal print is back, and it’s safe to say that it’s bigger than ever. Now, as said, nothing is too ostentatious when it comes to the festival season, so put on those zebra leggings and even pair them with a leopard print top if the mood strikes you. Of course, you can always go a tad more low-key and opt for just one print, in which case we highly recommend the classic leopard print. Ankle boots and a bodycon leopard dress – you will stop traffic, or even the band. Just make sure not to go overboard with jewelry, because that dress says it all. Going with current trends and mixing them into your festival looks is always a good idea as you’ll be able to wear all the stuff long after the music stops, which makes this union of runway and festivals a very smart one. This is a guest post by Amy Mia (Facebook / Twitter)
