GLASGOW

Edinburgh or Scottish highlands are the highlights and first thing that may come up to your mind when talking about Scotland. But Scotland has much more to offer. Glasgow is just an hour from Edinburgh or 4-5 hours from London by train.

Glasgow is a port city lying on the river Clyde on the west side of Scotland. Glasgow is second biggest city in Scotland, compared to Edinburgh, Glasgow is famous for its Victorian architecture and rich history of 19th-20th century trade and manufacturing. Today, it is home for a well-established Glasgow University, cultural hub and thriving music scene.

1. Glasgow cathedral
The beautiful park and walk to the cathedral should not be missed by a visit to the Necropolis hill too. Even though it is a cemetery, the views up to the cathedral and to the city is worth a visit.

3. Kelvingrove art gallery and museum
Glasgow's one of the most popular destination is this Kelvingrove art gallery and museum. It is surrounded by Kelvingrove park and nearby Glasgow university. The massive place offers variety of temporary and permanent exhibition.

4. University of Glasgow & Hunterian museum and art gallery - Scotland's oldest museum
If you are already around Kelvingrove area, you should make a visit to the university. The fourth oldest university in the UK is sitted on the hill with some great views on the Kelvingrove museum and beyond. There is also free of charge Hunterian museum and art gallery at the university which is welcome for visitors.

5. Byres road, Ashton Lane - Glasgow's heart of west end
The thriving West End of Glasgow is centered around Ashton Lane and Byres rd. Here you will find many places to come alive during night. From bars, to restaurants.





6. Glasgow Botanic Garden
The Glasgow Botanic Garden is also located in the west of the city. It has several glasshouses and large green areas, perfect for nice weather chilling.

7. Riverside museum
Riverside museum is significant by its architecture and by multi-award reputation. It is located at Pointhouse Quay in the Glasgow Harbour district of Glasgow. In simple, Riverside museum is a museum of transport. Great installations and displays within the museum can be appealing for both individuals and family visits.

Glasgow's river Clyde is the only river passing Glasgow. Walking alongside the river bank, you may pass many nice constructed bridges, modern buildings like Clyde Auditorium or Glasgow Science Center. The famous bridge in Glasgow is called Clyde Arc or so called Squinty Bridge, which is a white curving bridge.

9. Lighthouse
Lighthouse is located in the city center of Glasgow. It is a center for design and architecture. Visit lighthouse for their permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as the view on Glasgow.

Another beautiful glasshouse garden and museum located in Glasgow Green park, on the East. 

11. George Square & City chamber
The main square in the Glasgow where Municipal Chamber is located. This is also a place where Christmas markets are being held. Take the opportunity of a free tour guide around city chamber on George square as well, which takes place twice a day on a work day. 

12. Gallery of Modern Art
Located right in the city center of shopping, Gallery of Modern Art is a main contemporary art gallery in the city.
