Abd el Wahab restaurant review

LONDON

As much as I love food and eating out, for some reason, I never had Lebanese food before. Up until the time I went to Abd el Wahab newly launched restaurant in Belgravia, London for Lebanese dining experience. Firstly, I'd like to thank for their great hosting and serving us with delicious 3 course meal!

Despite of having Lebanese meal for a first time, I did enjoy it very much and wouldn't hesitate to come back again! Once we arrived to the restaurant, which is short walk from Sloane Square, Victoria or Knightsbridge, we grab glass of proseco while getting seated in a table. Didn't waited for long, and starters were served. Lebanese style of dining is in terms of sharing plates. The Lebanese culture is to feast over many dishes and engage in social conversation with friends and family. That is why Abd el Wahab restaurant had large tables for sharing and for large group of people as well as smaller ones for 2 or 4.

We had mixture of cold and warm starters, including hummus, fattouch salad, stuffed vine leafs, sojok or kebbeh. It was lots of small sharing plates for a starter and all was delicious. For our main meal, we had Lebanese mix grill, Lebanese moussaka and slow cooked lamb, all together with roasted vegetables and garlic sauce on the side. Our final meal was a dessert. Was curious to see what Lebanese dessert it could be. Our table was served with fresh fruits, maamoul flake and Lebanese baklawa.

Had a great experience with tasty food and even tastier house wine. Abd del Wahab restaurant is a chain of restaurants in Middle East, you may find them in Cairo or Dubai. This month, they have opened a restaurant in London. Their first one outside of Arab region. This restaurant in London is located over two floors which are flooded with natural light and greenery. It has an outside terrace as well, which can be suitable for drinks or informal dining in warmer weather.

Overall, the food and wine was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, they didn't have enough knowledge of the food serving. And lastly, the interior was nicely modern and bright. Maybe too modern, that it looses the essence of Lebanese restaurant. Nevertheless, I am pleased and would recommend this place for anyone seeking for Lebanese food! Me myself I cannot wait to go back again.
