BATH
Made finally a day trip to Bath (a long waiting destination in UK from my travel wishlist) a while ago, as you might have already catch up from my Instagram feed or stories. Was fascinated by the busy vibe there, as I haven't expected to be pretty busy by tourists there. Moreover, the beautiful synchronized buildings was just so beautiful that I was literally taking picture of every second building. Bath has also surprised me with the variety of shopping choices and independent boutiques. Overall, I was pretty pleased with this city and it was such a great day trip. It took me up to 2 hours from London to get there and once you are there, it's pretty easy to walk around anywhere. Bath has beautiful parks as well as aesthetic Georgian architecture. We had so much time there, that I will summarize with some tips on what to see and where to shop and eat! Read on:
WHAT TO SEE and DO?
1. Roman Baths
2. Bath Abbey
3. Pulteney bridge
4. Royal Crescent
5. Jane Austen Centre
Roman Baths is the number one top attraction in Bath. Besides that, Bath offers great number of gardens and parks to visit, museums and galleries (such as Fashion Museum, Victoria Art Gallery or Museum of East Asian Art). Anybody is fan of Jane Austen books? Then you should visit a small museum dedicated to writer's life.
Bath is well known for beautiful Georgian architecture and for its natural hot springs. Thus, it is great place to go to re-charge yourself by visit Thermae Bath Spa. Bath is a popular destination also because of Stonehedge, which is an hour away from Bath. Therefore, if you do have enough time, surrounding area of Bath are great to visit too!
WHERE TO EAT?
1. Green park brasserie & bar
2. Henry's restaurant Bath
3. Koh Thai Tapas restaurant
4. The Bath Bun
5. The courtyard cafe
WHERE TO SHOP?
1. Milsom street & Milsom Place
2. Central Bath - for mainstream high street brands
3. Green Park Station market
4. Upper town (around Broad street and Milson street) - for independent and quirky boutiques
5. Artisan quarter (around London road)
As I have already mentioned, I have discovered many small cute shops in Bath. One of my favourite hunt is Magalleria (on 22a Broad Street). It is a small shop selling wide range of art, fashion, cultural and lifestyle magazines. You can literally find anything, from international copy to independent ones. It was such a great shop to spend some time there to browse some magazines, get some inspiration and get to know some new titles.
